Being buoyant made me feel in control at all times. I was in my own 'little space' and could determine for myself which stage of the labour I was in and whether I was progressing. Also, it made me able to deliver my own baby and placenta as I was able to move as I wished with the help of the water. Even as a midwife, I find it hard to imagine now how people give birth on their bottoms on dry land"

"The whole experience was wonderful. The best part was cuddling him in the water for a few minutes after he was born. There is nothing I would change. For me I had to have a water birth and deliver in water. After having a hospital birth with my second child, this labour and birth was brilliant. To be in complete control of your surroundings and to be comfortable in your space is very important."
